Description |
The date of BCS academic competition is usually on the break of two semesters and is included in the school calendar and is usually in late January. The following are the list of tasks:
1. In late October, send out flyer and competition rules to all students. 2. For each section, locate the coordinator, judges and proctors. To eliminate time conflict problems, do not have one person work as a judge in two or more sections and do not let judge be proctors. 3. Collect the Competition registration forms and tally the participants. 4. Each section's coordinator must attend ANCCS's Competition Coordination Meeting (Notify the coordinators about the Meeting's time and place) 5. Each coordinator will be the BCS rep to attend ANCCS's Competition Judge Meeting (ANCCS also needs two proctors and one score counter) 6. Each section's coordinator and its judge committee should start early on designing test problems. Always print at least two copies of the problem sheet and the answer sheets. 7. Make copies of the problem sheet. Ask help from other Associate Deans. 8. Assign classrooms to each section. 9. Order gifts for all the student participants, judges, and proctors. 10. Order trophies for speech contestants. If there leftovers from last year, change the label to this year. 11. Have the name tag ready for each coordinator, judge and proctor. 12.Print the necessary forms for grading and score calculation for each section. 13. Make several copies of judge list and proctor list, and student and student number list. 14. Order gifts for all the coordinators. 15. Ask VP-Instruction to post the student and classroom list at campus entrance and outside the classroom. 16. Notify all coordinators and proctors to sign in at the office 30 minutes before the competition. They can pickup the gifts at the sign-in table. 17. Gifts to students are packaged for each section and classroom. Label the package with the number of gifts, the proctor's name and classroom number. 18. Remind the coordinator of the section "Dictionary Look Up" to bring blank envelopes and paper clips to block the "bo po mo fo" section in the dictionary. 19. Ask the judges to sign on two score sheets: one to post and one to file. 20. Copy each section's score sheet to the Grand Winners' Sheet. Make five copies of the latter and send them to BCS Newsletter, World Journal, SingTao Daily, Mandarin Curriculum Dept and one for trophy ordering. 21. Pickup the trophies ordered in item 10 above before the Competition and give them to speech contestants. These students will not receive gifts in item 9 above. 22. Have an office assistant setup an information booth. 23. Usually the Computer Room next to the teacher's lounge is used as judges' room. MPR is used as Drawing's judges room, and Room 28 as Calligraphy' and Chinese Painting's judges room. 24. Start working on ANCCS's Academic Competition early in time. 25. To each section's first place holder and the ANCCS judge: give him/her a flyer containing ANCCS Academic Competition's time, place and map. To each judge, add 'ANCCS Judge's Guideline' to the flyer. To each first place holder, add "ANCCS Contestant's Guideline" of that section to the flyer. 26. If a student wins in two or more sections and s/he agrees to compete on one section in ANCCS's Competition, contact the other section's second place holder for competing in ANCCS's Competition. 27. Make a list of the BCS-provided ANCCS judges and a list of contestants. Send the two lists with the registration fee (get a check from Finance) to the ANCCS Competition host school before the deadline. Use certified mail (with return receipt). 28. One week before the ANCCS Competition, remind the students. 29. Coordinate with Principal and VP-Instruction to go there on the ANCCS Competition day and bring the BCS flag, drinks, fruits, etc. to boost the morale. |
