Description |
A parent/student survey form is distributed to the class in the middle of the second semester. In upper grade classes (grade 9 or above), forms can be filled by the students and are collected immediately. For mid- and lower grade classes, forms are distributed to parents and are collected back in three weeks. The results are tallied for each class and the average score per class is used for the first phase election of Teacher of the Year election in Mandarin curriculum.
Due to the nature of the Survey, the forms should not be handed out by the teacher. A parent rep or a curriculum Associate Dean can hand out the forms after first asking the teacher to excuse (leave the room) himself.
The completed survey forms can be returned to either BCS office or an Associate Dean. A summary of the per-class results should be sent to the teacher. The Dean or Associate Deans should also be prepared to discuss the results if the teacher desires. |

Recommend. |
Because not all parents will return the survey form the week following the form is handed out, it is critical to select a day to hand out the forms --- it is recommended to hand out the Survey when there will be three consecutive school weekdays (Saturdays). This will improve the Survey's response rate. Dean'/Associate Dean's reminder also will help.
Since the characteristics of the Culture curriculum is different from that of language curriculum, the Culture program has not had an across-the-program Parent Survey for several years. However, a parent survey/teacher evaluation is still needed. |
