Chinese school has been a great opportunity for me to learn
more about my heritage. I've been going to Chinese school
ever since I was three years old. I am 14 years old now. I am
the only one out of all my friends that might actually go to
Chinese school until I am in the 12 grade

After attending ubiquitous Berryessa Chinese School for 11 years I
have found out that it has ...lived up to its name. Is that a good thing
or a bad thing? Flip a coin to decide: it it lands on heads, then it is a
bad thing; it it lands on tails, then it is a bad thing; if it lands on its side,
then it is a good thing. Think about that. As for answers to tests, all I
have to say is, "Sharing is Caring".

in the book the best. I've been going since preschool.

MEGAN MOCK
Presentation High School
Hello, my name is Megan Mock. When I first entered
Berryessa Chinese School eight years ago, I was placed into a
special Cantonese class for students who do not know how to
speak Chinese. I can still remember that first when the teacher
asked my brother. His reply, "I don't know," and the whole
class started laughing. Well, that first year, I learned over 300
characters. The next year, I was placed into a regular second
grade class. The rest is history and I have been attending
Berryessa Chinese School ever since. I still am unable to speak
or understand as much as I'd like. Lucky for me, my past
teachers have been understanding and have used both English
and Chinese to explain the lessons. This has helped me
tremendously to learn how to read and write in Chinese. It is
very fortunate when the teacher is able to translate stories and
vocabulary into English. This makes the lessons understandable
and much more interesting, don't you think? This year, we did
not have any translation in English. Even the stories were not
translated. When someone doen't understand, my teacher just
speaks louder! Will I be returning to Chinese School next year?
You can't get rid of me that easily!

Chinese school is not fun and is boring but it shares
its culture and teachings to prepare you for the
future that may require the very things that you do
not want to learn about. Chinese school is a major
benefit and teaches the necessary and basic of the
very culture itself

Berryessa Chinese School
teaches us many of the Chinese culture and we
learn how to speak. This would be able to help
us in jobs that require another language

People come to Chinese school for one or two
reasons: forced by the parents or you want to
learn. Either way, learning this language is hard
and frustrating but will benefit every person at
Berryessa Chinese School if not now, then in the
future

Chinese school is a really good environment to learn. It can be
really fun, especially if you have friends there. The only bad
point about Chinese school - is getting up early every Saturday
morning. I've been oging ever since Preschool too.
