Welcome to the 1999-2000 class website of M11A in Berryessa Chinese School (Buo2 Ai4 Zhong Wen3 Xue2 Xiao4)!
The students of M11A are a motley little group who come to the Piedmont Middle School campus every Saturday morning to learn Mandarin Chinese. Led by Teacher Tom Niu (Nio2 Lao3 Shi), our class sports a diverse range of individual personalities and talents. Some of us attend the various after-school culture classes that Berryessa Chinese School offers, and have some impressive knowledge and skill in Chinese calligraphy, painting, and history; others have won rankings in Berryessa Chinese School's annual essay-writing and Chinese culture contests. Some of us already have a good grasp of the Mandarin Chinese language, while most of us don't but are trying hard to get there. And still others in our class... often aren't in our class, and show up once every month or so.

But whatever our attendance records, the students of M11A are very hard-working. Most of us are juniors in American school, and we are struggling to complete what is perhaps the hardest year of our high school careers, as well as succeed in the SAT I's, SAT II's, and ACT's. Attending Chinese School every Saturday is a hard task that requires discipline (and a lot of pushing and prodding from our parents), but partly thanks to Teacher Niu's ever-interesting class lectures and discussions, we're all still doing fairly well.
