Cultural Class P3/PA5 - Chinese Painting

Chun-Hui Yu has studied under the tutelage of masters: Huang Chun-Pi, Wong Lui-Sheng, Chiang Chao-Shen, Hau Pei-Jeu, Liu Ping-Heng, Tsao Jung-Ying, Fu Chuau-Fu and Lin Yun.

Chun-Hui's art is an integration of philosophy and calligraphy. Her paintings embody three principal themes in the pursuit of this synthesis:

• "Chi-yun" - Inner spirit or living energy of the brush stroke itself, radiating from the ink left by the brush;
• "Yi-jin" - Feeling evoked by the physical form or subject matter. The most valued form of "Yi-jin" is 'Jin-jie", the quality of expressing and evoking impulsive passion or spontaneous force or action; and
• "Yi" - Essence that transcends the ordinary.

Chun-Hui has exhibited extensively, including The Mongolian and Taiwanese Artist Joint Exhibition (I 992, 1996, 1997). The Modern Chinese Brush Painting Exhibition, The Chinese Arts Association Annual Exhibition, The 'From East to West" California Statewide Oriental Brush Painting Exhibition, KQED Public Broadcasting (San Francisco, California) and the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, China).
