Berryessa Citizens Advisory Council BCAC is a neighborhood association that is dedicated to the enrichment of the Berryessa Community in North San Jose. Linda Hermann, President of BCAC stressed the importance of community planning as it affects Berryessa. BCAC is currently working with the City of San Jose on Parks and Community Facilities and the City Strategic Master Plan. BCAC is also evaluating the Capitol Light Rail plan which will link high density housing around the five stations in Berryessa. In 1992, Pat Wong, Advisor/Principal of Berryessa Chinese School (BCS) was invited by Bill Hughes, Founder of BCAC to present an overview of the Chinese School and Asians in Santa Clara County. Among the attendees were then Mayor Susan Hammer and Santa Clara County Supervisor Ron Gonzales who is now the Mayor of San Jose. The presentation highlighted the contributions of Asians in the valley since the gold rush in 1880's; the burned down of Chinese Town in San Jose; the build up of the Silicon Valley of today; and the Berryessa Chinese School.
