Asian Law Alliance was established in 1977 as a non-profit organization by a group of young lawyers who provide the community with equal access to the justice system for the Asian/Pacific Islander and low-income population in Santa Clara County. They provide legal counseling, community education and community organizing services. They seek to promote justice, dignity, equality, self-reliance and a better quality of life for the people they assist.
Richard Konda, a staff lawyer with Asian Law Alliance (ALA) since the beginning and his wife Cynthia have been a friend of the Chinese School for twenty years. Richard provides legal counseling for the School and guides us in the proper direction. Our Principal emeritus Gilbert Chang was a member of the Board of Director for ALA.
Since ALA was established, they have helped many Asians to overcome difficulties in the Silicon Valley in the area of human rights, immigration, housing, and domestic violence. Berryessa Chinese School salutes ALA for their twenty three years of contribution to the community. |
