Association of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS)

The Bay Area Chinese community has grown since the turn of the century. They came from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and various Chinese speaking countries. Even though we have come from different backgrounds with different culture and customs, we do have a common goal. That is to teach our children of our language, culture and heritage so that they will not forget our roots.

The ANCCS was founded in 1978. Its goals are:

  • promote Chinese teaching among all the local Chinese Schools
  • Exchange teaching experience including workbook,
  • Teacher qualification and training
  • Administrative and operations training
  • Unite all the other Chinese schools
This year's membership in ANCCS has grown to 81 member schools ranging from Talmage in the north, Fresno to the south, Reno, Navada to the east. The student body is over 20,000 with over 1,200 teachers and 1,200 language classes.

BCS has taken an important roles in ANCCS. Among the our past principals, two of the BCS principals were elected to President of ANCCS. BCS also organized and hosted local sporting events, teachers' camp, seminars for administrators and teachers, and ANCCS annual publications.
