BCS and several school districts in the area have set up a joint Credit Recognition Program that allows the School Districts to grant Chinese Language credits to high school (9th - 12th grade) students in attendance in both the School District and BCS. In 1988, C.C. Huang, then Principal saw the need for our curriculum to be recognized by the school districts. Fook Wong, then Vice Principal was tasked with the credit recognition program. He started by organizing the curriculum with Instructions departments. Following the guidelines of the Department of Education, the curriculum was organized and submitted to the San Jose Eastside High School District for recognition. After nine months of negotiation and meetings, the school district began to realize the importance of our curriculum to the community. Lois Freeman, member of the San Jose Eastside High School District was instrumental in bringing our curriculum to be recognized. She presented our curriculum at the Santa Clara County Department of Education meeting. She introduced the Chinese school program to the council members and began to raise the awareness of the local community of our existence. The city of East San Jose, Fremont, Milpitas, and Berryessa were among the first to recognize our curriculum. BCS is still one of the Chinese schools in the nation to have curriculum recognized by the most school districts. The following display the original memos:-
